Mexico, Day 1

Mexico, Day 1

Greetings from Guadalajara, Mexico! The Mexico mission team arrived a day later than expected but in good spirits. Our delay was caused by a tech outage that affected airports globally, and we were fortunate to arrive at all, since some airlines had rescheduled flights for days later or canceled them altogether.

After a brief sleep (we arrived at the Matthew Training Center after midnight), we had breakfast and then headed to church with our host Melody. The church service included praise and worship (the team sang along in Spanish!) and a message on living the life of a disciple (translated by Melody).

Afterwards, we headed to El Ranchero to eat barbacoa tacos!

Here’s our host Melody, driver Didier and his wife Sandy.

Later, we went to Walmart to use the ATM (out come the pesos!).

After finding everyone we lost (only briefly!) we paused for a quick photo while Didier fetched the van to pick us up in the rain.

We then spent some time in Tlaquepaque, a Mexican market.

Dinner and an early bedtime wrapped up our first day in Mexico.

God has of course been using the travel days and free day in Mexico to bless and shape this ragtag group into a team committed to working together for His glory. Monday will challenge us to temper our emotions, manage our expectations, and put others first as we dig into the work and delight in divine appointments that Jesus has for us.

Please pray that the spirit will be mightily at work during this week.

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
